Connect an AI agent (Meta's Muse)

An AI agent like Meta's Muse can find people on Instagram who fit your business and add them to Leads for your team to review. It connects with an API key you make in Crustomer. It can add leads and read them back; it can't message anyone from Crustomer.

1. Open Settings → API keys. Owners and admins see this page.
2. Type what will use the key (Muse is filled in) and click Create API key.
3. Click Copy. The key is shown once; Crustomer only keeps a fingerprint of it.
4. In Muse, add a custom connector with API key auth. Paste the key, set the base address to https://crustomer.us/api/v1 and give it the docs link: crustomer.us/developers.
5. Ask Muse to add a lead, then check Leads. New ones show "Added by Muse through the Crustomer API" in their history.

If the same person comes in twice

They're matched by Instagram username, so you never get a duplicate. The agent can fill blanks, update the follower count and mark someone vetted, but it never changes a name, bio or status your team wrote.

Rotate or turn off a key

Rotate makes a new key and stops the old one at once, so paste the new one into the agent straight after. Turn off stops a key for good.

Only have the agent send what it may lawfully collect, and reach out to people by hand. Automated cold DMs break Instagram's rules.
